Schwarzwälder Gründergeist Ideas and Business Plan Competition 2026

Are you a student, a PhD candidate or a member of staff at the University of Freiburg, Offenburg University of Applied Sciences or Furtwangen University – and do you have lots of ideas that are finally ready to make their way out of your notes app? Is your dissertation not the end, but just the beginning? Or are your creative projects piling up and you don’t even know where to start?

November (vormittags) exklusive Probe-Pitches an.

Some people on stage are being cheered and showered with glitter. They have won the 2026 Schwarzwälder Gründergeist Ideas and Business Plan Competition.

The competition is structured in two stages and supports you from the initial idea right through to a fully developed business model or first prototype.

The aim of the (first) idea phase is to systematically develop innovative ideas. So you’ll actively work on your flashes of inspiration and also learn to think and act like an entrepreneur.

In the subsequent business plan phase, you’ll turn your idea into a real start-up. By the end, you’ll not only have a well-researched business plan, but also a pitch deck that will impress investors.

By the way: the two phases don’t necessarily build on one another. You can also sign up for just one round.

Save the Dates:

To ensure your idea is considered for the awards ceremony, you must submit it by 25 October. The closing event will take place as part of the FRENI Entrepreneurship Days on 19 November. As well as the chance to win a prize, you’ll also benefit from a truly extensive network and the opportunity to meet many influential entrepreneurs. Between these two events, the jury will meet to make a shortlist. The panel comprises experienced entrepreneurs, senior managers from regional companies and experts from the three universities.

The business plan phase follows a similar structure: you must submit your business plan by 17 May 2027, and the closing event will take place on 2 July 2027. In the meantime, the jury will meet to reach its decision, whilst you’ll benefit from pitch training.

Are you in? Great, we look forward to hearing your idea! Download the application form right here:
